Methodology & how this site is made

How this site is made

Countyguard's county pages are compiled from public federal datasets — FEMA disaster declarations, FEMA NFIP flood-insurance policies and claims, NOAA storm events, and the EPA Safe Drinking Water Information System. Every number on a county page traces to a named source field and a documented filter: nothing is estimated, and nothing is editorialized.

Before any build publishes, a validator built on a separate code path from the page generator — our own software, not a third-party audit — re-reads every generated page cold and re-derives each figure straight from the source data. One mismatch blocks the entire build. When a county's records are too thin to be useful, we publish no page for it and route residents to the statewide guide. Corrections are welcome and logged — see any record's change log.

Build manifest & provenance

The exact public sources this build was compiled from — the download/API page, the snapshot vintage we ingested, and the row count — plus the cube's transform versions. Public datasets are live and may run ahead of these snapshots.

Data-method records

One record per statistic that appears on a county page. Each defines the exact source, fields, filters, window, rounding, suppression rule, the internal build query, and a public raw-source reproduction recipe.

Source data refreshed through: declarations through 2026-07 · nfip_claims through 2026-05 · nfip_policies_snapshot through 2026-07-20 · noaa through 2026-03. Current cube build 2026-07-21b (generated 2026-07-21).
